Saint Matthews church seeks to serve the community through wedding services.
St. Matthews, KY, January 21, 2011: Breckenridge Chapel, Free Methodist Church, will open its facility for small and mid-sized weddings. The quaint, historic chapel in Saint Matthews seats up to 125 persons comfortably.
“This initiative is a ministry, not a money-maker for us,” said Dr. John Wesley Slider, pastor of Breckenridge Chapel. “We structured our fees to be as inexpensive as possible - just to cover expenses.”
The chapel is open for Christian weddings. Pre-marital counseling with the pastor is required if he officiates. Dr. Slider has been a pastor for thirty-two years and has authored Marriage and Weddings to be used as a tool for premarital counseling as well as a study guide for groups.
Weddings at Breckenridge Chapel will be consistent with the teachings and practices of the Free Methodist Church and the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Guest pastors are welcomed, but will need to be approved by the pastor.
