AFRICA

Kenya Elections: Praise the Lord for His care during Kenya's recent general elections. Africa Area Director Mike Reynen reported Fri., March 15, "Things are very calm and back to normal here. Many people here did express thanks and praise to God for the peace and orderliness of the overall election process."

Kenya: Praise the Lord with Ken and Letty Myers for the gift allowing them to purchase a projector and other equipment for use in a new ministry showing the JESUS Film. Begin praying now for the lives that will be impacted through this film.

ASIA Philippines: Pray as lives are continually being changed through the JESUS Film in the Ayta Abellen language area. Roger Stone reports the film was shown seven times in December and hopes to reach several more villages before the rainy season makes travel difficult. One translator was showing someone parts of the JESUS Film on his cell phone as they stood by the road. The man watching said, "It feels like my insides are being opened up." Pray for God to continue to use this film for His purposes and to guide the team and churches doing follow up.

EUROPE Portugal: Many people are moving to other countries because there are so few jobs available in Portugal. International missionaries Eduardo and Cindi Angelo report that a family who had been members of the FMC in Charneca for eight years, recently moved to London. Authorities indicate that in the last year more than 40,000 Portuguese have moved to Brazil for work. In 2012, 100,000 had left the country. Pray for the economy in Portugal to change and for God's provision for His people.

LATIN AMERICA Mexico: Praise the Lord for the 11 students who just completed a course required for ordination in Campeche under the leadership of Gary and Jann Allen. Currently on an extended ministry trip in the states of Campeche and Yucatan, Gary and Jann are teaching a course on inductive Bible study in the Ticul FMC. Then they host VISA teams from Oregon and Michigan. Jann returns to Mexico City Wed., March 27, while Gary returns Tues., April 2. Pray for God's help in each of these ministry endeavors. Honduras: Pray for the safety of the Honduran FM pastoral team. Pastor Juan Rivera continues to start churches, and train and supervise pastors in Olanchito, Honduras. Pastor Javier Mendoza provides key support and training while waiting in Miami, FL, for the US immigration process to allow him freedom to travel. Also pray for the FMC's legal incorporation in Honduras. Venezuela: The FMC in Venezuela asks the international church to pray for their country during their time of sorrow and transition after the death of President Chavez. Presidential elections will take place Sun., April 14. The church asks that we pray for peace, unity among believers, and God's will to be done.

AFRICA

Kenya: Pray for peace and fairness to reign following the country's general elections that were held Mon., March 4. These are the first elections held under the new constitution, which was passed during the 2010 referendum. FM missionaries serving in Kenya include: Mike and Vickie Reynen and their son Kyle, Debbie Hogeboom, Cathy and Mark Lessig, Ken and Letty Myers and their children Nathan and Nasya, Jill Parsons, and Don and Amy Rogers and their children Joshua and Nathaniel.

ASIA Thailand: Remember Don and Kathy Williams as they return to Thailand, Tues., March 12, following their partnership building ministry in the U.S. Pray all the last minute details come together and for smooth transition back to the culture and their ministries with Grace International School and Community Bible Study International. Taiwan: Tim and Lily Kinkead would like to help seekers and new believers from the Chung Lun FM church in Kaohsiung grow with a better foundation. Pray for volunteers and wisdom to know how to make this ministry most beneficial. Also pray for Tim's eyes. He has recently had some discomfort but is working with the doctor for treatment.

EUROPE Hungary: Pray as plans are being made for the upcoming spring and summer ministry programs. Pray for guidance in helping new believers learn how to assist with activities and for Spirit-led ideas about reaching out to new people. Bulgaria: Al and Diane Mellinger return to their ministries in Bulgaria this week after a short time of partnership building. Pray for God's continued anointing over their ministries.

LATIN AMERICA Mexico: Pray for strong bonds to be built in the new, second generation small groups in the Manantial de Vida church. Pray many lives will be changed through this ministry.

MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA Egypt: A believer from Egypt sent this report: "I believe things are going to get more complicated with the political situation in Egypt by the time of the parliamentary elections in April. I hope things don't get violent in the demonstrations. On the other hand, the spiritual work has never been so much blessed and blossomed as this season. The Lord has been preparing the hearts of the people through the surrounding events to accept His way and salvation."

AFRICA

Burundi: Joel and Janette Miller are thankful for the ways God has been with their family during this first year of the ministry in Burundi. They ask for prayer as Joel learns how to fulfill his new role as Director of Clinical Education for Hope Africa University. Also pray for their children, Hannah, Leah, Samuel and Josiah, as they continue their schooling in French.

EUROPE Slovakia: Lynette Sykora has recently restarted a community English club. She has requested prayer for people to come, that relationships can continue to develop and that God can use this for His glory.

LATIN AMERICA Peru: "We Are the Hope of Peru" was the theme of the annual Peru FM meetings that took place in Lima, Jan. 12 to 14. Pray as each pastor now shares this vision with their church, helping them see how God wants to use them to be the hope for their local community.  Pray for Pastor Miguel Algorta as he provides leadership for the Peru Mission District.

MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA Middle East Area: The FM Church is working among Syrian refugees and displaced people. In the midst of crisis, many are open to the gospel message. Pray for one particular mother of three children who has come to know the Lord while living as a refugee. She shares with FM workers of her hunger for the fullness of God. Despite her husband's lack of support, this woman continues to grow in her faith and seek out ways of connecting with believers who can help her grow.

AFRICA

South Africa: Pray for Bishop Lincoln Shembe who was re-elected as Bishop of the South Africa General Conference earlier this month. Ninety-one churches, with more than 6,000 members, are a part of the FMC in South Africa.

ASIA Taiwan: Pray for Holy Light Seminary students currently on a mission trip to the Philippines through Jan. 30. David Clemente is leading this team of 10 going to Butuan City on the island of Mindanao. Also lift Carmen and Jacob Clemente as they transition back to elementary school at Morrison Academy after being in the U.S. for partnership building with their parents last semester.

EUROPE Hungary: Pray the 2013 calendar cards the Budapest church members are distributing to friends and neighbors will open doors for opportunities to serve others.

LATIN AMERICA Mexico: The Mexican Conference is sending leaders to meet with contacts in Guadalajara this week, Jan. 24 to 28, to explore planting a church there. Pray about this opportunity. Also pray for Yaneth, a pastor's wife who suffered a serious back injury. Ask God for complete healing.

MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA Egypt: The FMC of Egypt will hold an emerging leaders conference next week. Leaders are coming for training in creative church planting work. Pray for speakers and leaders. Pray the Lord's presence will be evident in the worship and teaching. Pray for a great harvest as a result of this strategic training. Middle East Area: Recently government and UN officials have opened doors for an FM church plant in a Middle Eastern country to begin humanitarian services in a conservative Islamic community. FM leaders have been praying and working towards this opportunity but are very aware of the personal danger involved. They are praying their tangible works of love will build bridges that lead to the Prince of Peace. Pray for safety and wisdom for these leaders.

Thailand: Pray for the children attending the youth church service at the Chiang Mai FMC to sense God's love through the English vocabulary, memory verses and Bible stories they learn. This service is led by Nathanial, Gabrialla and Ikaiasha Persing, whose parents, Corey and Connie, serve in Thailand. Also pray the church will find a larger facility for their growing ministries.

LATIN AMERICA Brazil: Dan and Hope Owsley praise the Lord for the Aguas Claras church plant that is preparing to be launched, as well as for the enthusiasm of those who attend a Monday night Bible study. Pray for Dan and Hope as they develop a curriculum of theological studies and make plans for leadership gatherings this year.

Taiwan: The San He FMC ministered over the holidays through a program of Christmas carols and testimonies to more than 200 male inmates at the local jail. According to an FM worker, this jail has a solid Bible study and discipleship program. Pray for the inmates who have committed to be baptized later this month. As you pray, ask God to continue to speak to the inmates and staff who heard the message of salvation, that they would desire to seek new life in Christ.

India: Pray for those gathering for the Umri Christian Hospital board meeting on Tues., Jan. 15. New doctors Elizabeth and Jevagam will participate in this meeting for the first time. Pray for ongoing compassion ministries at this hospital. 

Also on Jan. 15, FM churches in Mumbai, in cooperation with the Crossover Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Ohio, will open a safehouse for six girls who have been rescued from brothels. The churches and foundation hope to eventually sponsor two more homes.

EUROPE Hungary: Join the Hungary FM team in praying for the seeds sown the evening of the community Christmas program to take root and grow in the lives of the guests. Pray the church will have further opportunities to minister to these guests. Larry and Katie Winckles write, "We continue to work with many hurting and broken people. Pray we would have the wisdom and discernment we need in order to give good counsel and to demonstrate Christ's love to them, even when it is hard to do so."

LATIN AMERICA Mexico: Gary and Jann Allen plan to visit other areas in their mission district during 2013 to help with short-term teams. Gary will also teach various courses to lay pastors and lay leaders. Pray for travel safety and wisdom to teach what will be most helpful to the leaders.

INTERNATIONAL CHILD CARE MINISTRIES / SET FREE Because of 2012 Freedom Sunday offerings, more than 700 children in ICCM hostels and AIDS-impacted children's daycare centers have been equipped to withstand the schemes of traffickers. These vulnerable children now know their rights, experience the liberating powers of the gospel that gives them value and identity, and are bringing awareness to others around them. Church leaders are spreading the word of human freedom as central to the gospel and helping their congregations join the fight against slavery.

AFRICA

Democratic Republic of Congo: Church leaders continue to express their gratitude for your prayers and other assistance during this difficult time.

Funds are being sent from the Bishop's Crisis Response Fund, as well as channels through the FMC Canada. Please pray it will soon be safe enough to distribute aid to those who need it so desperately.

Burundi: More than 300 students will receive their diplomas at the Fri., Dec. 21, graduation ceremony at Hope Africa University. Pray God continues to bless and use these students as they enter their careers and use the tools learned at HAU in their daily lives.

ASIA Taiwan: "December is a great month to share the gospel in Taiwan," writes Tim Kinkead. "Because of Christmas, there is a little more openness to the gospel." Pray for church events taking place in the next few weeks, including community caroling, a community Christmas celebration at an elementary school and an end-of-year thanksgiving service. Pray for the family of Rev. Chiu Shin-Ey, who died as a result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident last week. Remember his wife and four children, as well as the Ne-Shi Church where he pastored. India: Pray for street evangelism, including preaching the gospel and distributing tracts, taking place later this month in a major city. Pray for several other outreach programs during the Christmas season.

EUROPE Hungary: The Budapest church leadership team requests prayer as they begin planning for 2013. Pray for inspiration and discernment to cooperate with God's purposes, and the grace and patience needed to communicate well and follow through.

LATIN AMERICA Brazil: Dan Owsley reports God used car trouble as an opportunity for Dan to minister to a mechanic. This encounter may also open the door for services to be held at the repair shop. Pray for mechanics Goiano and Nena to continue to seek God, as well as for wisdom for Dan and Hope in sharing their faith in their daily lives.   Peru: Pray for the medical campaign and Christmas distribution that will take place Wed., Dec. 26 through Sat., Dec. 29 in a jungle area. Pray for the ministry team's travel safety and for great impact on the people being served.

MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA Egypt: The Coptic Orthodox church is the indigenous church of Egypt. Pray for healthy relationships between FM and local Orthodox pastors. Pray that neither would feel threatened by the other's ministry. Pray for a continued increase in complementing ministries. Pray for the new Pope of the Orthodox church who serves as a representative of Christians before governing officials. Jordan: The Jordanian FM churches will help distribute gifts for children collected from other Jordanians. Multiple Santa Clauses will visit homes, delivering toys to children and Bibles to families. Pray for receptivity to the Christmas story and for many new families to discover the "Reason for the Season."

AFRICA

Democratic Republic of Congo: Pray for the humanitarian efforts to get food and shelter to help the tens of thousands of displaced people in Goma, the capital of North Kivu province. Pray for safety and stability to come to the DRC. 

Funds were sent from the Bishop's Crisis Response Fund ($10,000 on Nov. 21), as well as channels through the FMC-Canada. Pray for the safe distribution of this aid to those who desperately need it.

Celebrating: FM affiliate missionary and Empowering Lives International (ELI) founder Don Rogers was honored as Azusa Pacific University's alumnus of the year in October. Don works alongside key national leaders helping establish Skills for Life Training Centers, Christian schools, orphanages and health ministries in Kenya, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan.

ASIA Philippines: Bishop Jim Tuan sent this update after meeting with the four superintendents whose areas have been affected by Typhoon Bopha, which is considered the worst typhoon to hit the Philippines in 80 years. "It is sad to hear about the situation of our church buildings, parsonages, members' homes and rice fields. We are giving priority for the local churches rather than our members since, at this time, our funds are very limited. Thank you again for your support." Elizabeth Langam, Elim Farm manager, reported the typhoon damage has resulted in 80% of the trees being severely damaged. Elim Farm is an indigenous agricultural development project which supplies financial aid and provides agricultural technology so church planters and members can adequately support their families. Bishop Matt Thomas writes, "Having lived in the Philippines and served the FM Church there, I am familiar with many of the churches that have been damaged. It is unimaginable what kind of winds and torrent of rain poured through there. The $4,000 we sent last week from the Bishops' Crisis Response Fund will only scratch the surface of emergency need." Cambodia: APFMMA missionary Christina Leung has recently returned to Hong Kong for home assignment. Pray for God's healing as she undergoes eye treatments for retinal degeneration. Also pray for Miu-ling who is taking on Christina's responsibilities at the House of Joy and House of Love. Hong Kong: Pray for Edna Morano, the lay minister of First Filipino FMC, who is having health issues. Pray for a complete recovery.

EUROPE Ukraine: Pray for a new believer and her 11-year-old son who live in Chernivtci. The woman's husband does not want her to be baptized. The son is committed to his faith and is evangelizing in his school. He says, "God's changed my life!" Pray for these believers to remain strong in their faith in spite of opposition. Pray their immediate family and schoolmates may have open hearts, especially during this Christmas season, to learn about Jesus' birth. Hungary: Pray for Assistant Pastor Peter Toth as he shares the Christmas message at the community Christmas program at the Budapest Ministry Center on Fri., Dec. 14. Everyone who is associated with the Bread of Life Foundation programs through English classes, music pre-school, ladies' exercise and Recovery Ministries is invited to attend. Pray for open hearts to receive the message.

LATIN AMERICA Mexico: "The work in Mexico is in God's hands," write Gary and Jann Allen. "We can be assured that He knows the direction the church will take." Pray as leaders receive training, new Bible studies and small groups begin, and believers touch the lives of others who need a Savior.

MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA North Africa Creative Access: Many house churches are led by Muslim Background Believers who have come to know the Lord but are not able to worship in an established church. Pray for these leaders: their security, wisdom, boldness and continued discipleship.

MISSIONS FAMILY Retired Missionary: FMWM celebrates with retired missionary Evelyn Rupert Heath on her 90th birthday, Thurs., Dec. 20. She served as an educational missionary to Burundi and Rwanda for 35 years (1951-1986). Pray for missionaries throughout the world who are away from their families during this holiday season.

INTERNATIONAL CHILD CARE MINISTRIES Pray for sponsored children who attend one of 77 schools that are operated or supported by ICCM. Pray for ICCM-sponsored children who graduate and are now pursuing higher education or work opportunities.

SEED LIVELIHOOD NETWORK Pray for co-directors David and Rose Brewer as they make preparations to publicly launch SEED parties in early 2013.

VISA MINISTRIES Assignments: Wayne and Darlene McCown, Pearce Memorial FMC, Rochester, NY, will serve at Hope Africa University (HAU) in Burundi Dec. 11 through Jan. 17. Dr. Craig and Julie Maddox and their family, who currently reside in Italy, will also serve at HAU from Dec. 17 to Jan. 10. Craig will share his skills as a dermatologist with the school and local hospital.

AFRICA

Democratic Republic of Congo: The displaced people in Goma, the capital of North Kivu province, continue to need prayer as they live in dire circumstances. Pray for supplies, pray for safety, pray for hope. Pray for the humanitarian efforts being made to get food and shelter to the tens of thousands displaced people.

Funds were sent from the Bishop's Crisis Response Fund ($10,000 on Nov. 21), as well as channels through the FMC-Canada. Pray for the safe distribution of this aid to those who desperately need it.

Burundi: Pray for the safe travel of a shipping container weighing more than 40,000 pounds on its way by truck, train and then cargo ship to Bujumbura, Burundi. This container holds a complete dental office and a new X-ray machine for the Van Norman Clinic, plus more than 2,200 textbooks and 1,000 English New Testaments for Hope Africa University students. This shipment also has equipment for three optical offices, and items to expand general surgery services at Kibuye Hope Hospital. It will take three to six months before this container arrives at its final destination.

Rwanda: Julie Yerger writes, "Pray for Kibogora Hospital during the 25 days leading up to Christmas. Take a few minutes to prayerfully focus on Kibogora and God's transforming power in lives, both physically and spiritually."

ASIA Creative Access Country: Pray more neighbors will attend a Thursday night Bible study group hosted by a creative access worker. Pray this worker has God's words of encouragement in a language these neighbors will understand.

EUROPE Greece: On Sat., Nov. 17, the Thessaloniki church joined other ministries in a food distribution program that reached nearly 1,000 needy people. More than 300 New Testaments were given out. Pray the recipients of these tangible love gifts will want to learn why these churches were willing to give. As you remember FMs in Greece, praise the Lord that after nine years of waiting, the Thessaloniki congregation finally received official church registration from the Greek government. Spain: Praise the Lord for the spiritual commitments made at the recent two-day youth camping retreat. Pray for Josh and Susy Fajardo to have the time to continue investing in the youth.

LATIN AMERICA Brazil: Dan and Hope Owsley celebrate growth in the West Central Annual Conference. The conference reached 1,000 members and three new church plants were started in 2012. Pray for ongoing success throughout this annual conference and the FMC's  positive impact throughout Brazil.

MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICA Egypt: Remember the people of Egypt in these days of uncertainty. Pray for the safety of those who are laboring for the kingdom. Pray for peace and justice. The FM Church has around 100 traditional churches across Egypt. Pray God would use these churches in establishing His kingdom, His justice, and His peace. Iraq: Pray for ongoing house church training which is mobilizing a new wave of church planters throughout northern Iraq. Pray for the three Arab pastors overseeing this training, as well as the many new villages and urban neighborhoods where FM laypeople are searching for "people of peace" (Luke 10).

MISSIONS FAMILY Missionary Kids: Pray for Zachary (begins 11th grade on Jan. 4) and Emily (7th grade) Yost who have recently returned to the Mexican school system. Pray they clearly understand their Spanish schoolwork. Praise the Lord the family has the official stamp from Mexico's immigration allowing Zachary and Emily to attend school. Pray for missionaries throughout the world who are away from their families during this holiday season.

INTERNATIONAL CHILD CARE MINISTRIES Pray for Free Methodist children and families caught in the middle of intra-national conflicts in Africa and the Middle East.

SEED LIVELIHOOD NETWORK Join in prayer that people would choose to invest in development projects through SEED Livelihood as they celebrate Jesus' birth.

VISA MINISTRIES Haiti is the destination of several individuals involved in short-term ministry: Jim Donnelson, Arlington FMC, WA, is working with the Friends of Haiti Organization (FOHO) from Nov. 29 to Dec. 8. Larry Judy, Island FMC, Sumner, IL, is also working with FOHO from Dec. 2 to 10.  Tamara Kok and her daughter, Joy, El Dorado Hill, CA, will visit Russ and Sherrie Cole and serve alongside the Coles Dec. 7 to 18. Tamara, Sherrie's sister, is a registered nurse.
