A Louisville couple tied the knot on the most romantic day of the year—Valentine’s Day, February 14—at 10:30 a.m., at the White Castle located at 105 East Market Street. Kristine Hissong and Brad Sparks were the winners of a contest hosted by White Castle and sponsored by Louisville’s 98.9 Radio Now. The couple, who craves each other as much as they crave Sliders, won over the hearts of the radio station listeners, who voted for them online as the most deserving of all the couples in the contest.
Officiating the exchange of vows was 98.9 Radio Now personality Jonathan Shuford, who is licensed to perform weddings. He was followed by Rev. John Slider, a local Free Methodist minister, and pastor of Breckenridge Chapel, Free Methodist Church in St. Matthews, offered a prayer and blessing for the couple after the wedding ceremony.
Unique Nuptials to Also Feature “Hamburger Cake”
The White Castle was magically transformed for the ceremony, complete with flowers, greenery, candlelight, and other nuptial décor. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception for the couple and family was held at the restaurant, featuring a wedding cake resembling a giant Slider, created by The Bakery at Sullivan University.
Guests were treated to White Castle’s Silver Tray Service, which included the Original Slider® and other traditional Craver favorites. The couple’s prize package also included flowers from Nanz & Kraft Florists, a photo package from Hamm Photography, and a $500 gift card for wedding bands from Genesis Diamonds.
Kristine, the bride-to-be, describes her husband, Brad, as “truly the love of my life.” She adds, “Valentine’s Day is the perfect day. You can’t get more romantic than that.”
The dining room at the First and Market Street location was closed Valentine’s Day morning for the wedding event and re-opened at noon in time for lunch. The drive-thru also will be open for regular service throughout the morning.
