Paul Taehoon Jung, a member of Breckenridge Chapel (Free Methodist Church) in Saint Matthews, Kentucky, has taken the first public step in pursing ordination in the Free Methodist Church.
At a meeting of the membership of Breckenridge Chapel on February 5, 2012, Mr. Jung was interviewed concerning his relationship with God and his understanding of God’s call to ordained ministry in the Free Methodist Church. He received a unanimous affirmative vote from the members. Mr. Jung now becomes a Local Ministerial Candidate.
Paul has served in staff positions in congregations of the Korean Methodist Church in California, and recently as a Licensed Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. He served as the church planter and pastor of the Louisville Harvest Church (2006 – 2009), assistant pastor for Buechel United Methodist Church (2009-2010), and pastor of Pleasure Ridge Park United Methodist Church (2010-2011).
Dr. John Wesley Slider, pastor of Breckenridge Chapel, expressed the congregation’s strong support of Mr. Jung’s response to God’s call. “Paul and his family are wonderful additions to our church family,” said Dr. Slider, “But we need Paul leading a church as a pastor. I look forward to working with Paul to expand the presence, ministry, and witness of the Free Methodist church in Louisville.
Paul and his wife, Eunice, have two children. The family became a part of the fellowship of Breckenridge Chapel in 2011.
